MOUNTAINS TO SEA COLLECTION
The first time I saw Max Patch I was absolutely enamored with the vast 360 degree views. It is still my favorite view in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our favorite thing is to pack a lunch and a kite and spend the day at the top of this clearing where the wind is always ready to keep a kite in the air.
I love the thick brush strokes that a painting study offers. Often studies are painted in one short studio setting, capturing the main idea of a landscape or subject. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it.

Mount Mitchell is the highest peak east of the Mississippi and it’s one of the most beautiful views in Western North Carolina. I love how when you’re up that high the sky goes for miles. We’ve spent several hikes at Mount Mitchell with both friends and family. It’s not just loved by us, but many of you too I’m sure.

When my husband and I were first married we lived a small studio apartment in the Old Village, a short bike ride from Sullivan’s Island. Sullivan’s, although more busy than it used to be, is still my favorite beach to visit. I think back on those beach days fondly. Life was simple, we were broke, but our days were free and many of them were spent soaking up the sun on Sullivan’s Island.

Sunset at the beach offers such a peaceful end to the day. Isn’t it special that every day’s sunset offers a newly painted sky, each unique to itself? For all the years we lived in the Lowcountry I wish we would have spend a few more nights watching the sunset.

The Ocean Course is an iconic view of the Lowcountry. It holds one of the most loved golf courses in the south east. Although I’m not a golfer, it is on this green where I have spent many afternoons helping one of my dearest friends design elaborate wedding florals for weekend nuptials. It sure doesn’t feel like work with a view like this surrounding you.

Craggy Gardens is a most-loved hike here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. When we first moved to the Asheville area, weekend hikes were one of our regular rhythms. I can still see my eager little ones bolting ahead to be “first” on the trail.

In our younger years there were a few times we got to escape to Hunting Island, nestled in Beaufort, SC. I love the memories those trips hold. One of my favorite drives is the one on Highway 17 that takes you to Beaufort. It’s peaceful and full of marsh views on all sides. Add it to your list if you’ve never had the chance to take it, until then, let this Beaufort view take you there.

The Lowcountry became my home as a bright eyed eighteen year old when I moved to Charleston for college. The decade that followed is where I found love, my art career and began building a family. There is nothing like a marsh view. I hope this Lowcountry scene brings the serene feeling of the south into your home.

My family and I have made our home in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains over the last decade and no matter how many times I see the blue mountain tops peek over the horizon as driving into town, they never cease to amaze me. The layered, gentle rolling mountains bring a peaceful presence to all. I hope this painting does the same for your space.

My Husband’s family has its roots in the quaint shrimping town of McClellanville, South Carolina. In my opinion McClellanville is the epitome of Lowcountry living. It’s simple, salt filled and offers its residents a slow living, in a world that is over-scheduled. McClellanville is one of the best there is.
